Please be aware that GP practices do not treat dental problems. If you are experiencing toothache, dental infection, swelling, or any other dental issue, you must contact a dentist. Dentists are specially trained to assess and treat dental conditions, and they are the appropriate healthcare professionals to prescribe antibiotics for dental infections when needed.
If you do not have a regular dentist and require urgent dental care, please contact the Lancashire Dental Helpline:
The helpline is available for patients who need urgent in-hours or out-of-hours dental care and are not registered with a dentist. Please note that this is not a walk-in service—you must call first to be assessed and allocated an appointment if appropriate.
