Blood Test Service Update

We wanted to keep our patients informed that the industrial action affecting blood test processing across East Lancashire is continuing.

A further period of strike action has been announced and is expected to continue until September 2026. During this time, local laboratories will continue to operate at reduced capacity.

To help ensure urgent patients receive the tests they need, GP practices have been asked to limit blood test requests to around 50% of normal activity, prioritising clinically urgent cases.If your blood test is not urgent, it may be delayed or rearranged. We appreciate this may be frustrating and thank you for your patience and understanding while laboratory teams work to restore services safely.

If you have concerns about your health, please continue to contact the practice as normal. We will arrange tests as clinically appropriate and keep you informed where possible.
